Soldiers
Army Emergency
Relief (AER)
is a private non-profit organization with the primary mission of
providing financial assistance to Soldiers and their dependents in time
of valid emergency need. The MG James Ursano Scholarship Program was
established in 1976 as a secondary mission to help Army Families with
undergraduate college expenses for their dependent children.
The MG James Ursano Scholarship Program funds are limited therefore
scholarship awards are limited.
The MG James Ursano Scholarship Program offers scholarships based on
financial need, academics, and leadership/achievement
for each academic year.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Maintain a cumulative GPA of a 2.0 on a
4.0 scale
-
Be full time undergraduate students for
the entire academic year at a school
accredited by the U.S. Department of
Education
-
Be dependents of a Soldier on federal
active duty, a retiree, or a deceased
active or retired Soldier
SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS
The scholarship funds are split evenly
between the fall and spring semesters, or
terms or quarters. The funds are to be used
for tuition, fees, books, supplies and
school room and board either on or off
campus as requested by the student.
2009-2010 APPLICATION DEADLINE - MARCH 2,
2009
The 2009-2010 application is available on
our website,
WWW.AERHQ.ORG after December 1, 2008
and is due on March 2, 2009. Applicants are
strongly encouraged to apply online.
Hardcopy applications may be requested at
the below contact information. Applicants
may apply each academic year for up to four
years.
Applications are only reviewed if all
supporting documents are mailed and
postmarked on time.

2009 Student Aid Report (SAR) retrieved
from FAFSA, mailed to AER by the
student.
*Don’t forget to mail in your SAR!!*

The 2009 Student Aid Report (SAR) is the
resulting analysis of the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

To obtain your 2009 SAR, you must apply for
the 2009 FAFSA either through your school or
through FAFSA’s website at
www.fafsa.ed.gov.
FAFSA’s 2009 application is available
January 1, 2009.

It may take several weeks to apply for the
2009 FAFSA and for FAFSA to review your
application.

You can print your 2009 SAR from the FAFSA
website after FAFSA reviews your
application.

You must mail your 2009 SAR to AER no later
than May 1, 2009; FAFSA will not send it to
AER automatically.
